This page will contain an outline and study questions for each unit of
the course. It is not guaranteed to cover everything you need to know, but
I hope it will give you a better mental map and help you think about the

The two most important pieces of advice I can give for the test are:
- 1: Read the question carefully.
- 2: Make sure that you have both a strong argument and strong use of
specific evidence
Unit 1: Engineering as a Profession
- History of the Profession (profession
= specialized knowledge + specific qualifications you must have to enter
the profession + responsibility to the public). See also

- ingenuity (U.S. before roughly 1800)--no
