In recent years environmentalists have started to urge the removal of some dams, to restore the natural state of rivers and help fish.  If this seems like an obvious idea to you, think about how the Clemson area would change if the dam that created Lake Hartwell was removed.  Whether it is a good idea to remove a dam will usually be a matter of the tradeoffs for that particular dam.  So rather than arguing that dam removal is always a good idea or always a bad idea consider the tradeoffs: under what circumstances do you think it is a good idea to remove dams?  Make sure to explain the views both of those people who think dam removal is usually a good idea and of those people who think dam removal is usually a bad idea.
